NIWA Initiates a Signature Campaign-"Nehru Place Bachao"

Posted on January, Tuesday 10, 2012 By itVAR News Network

In what is called a peaceful protest against the disregard shown to the cleanliness and security of the Nehru Place trading area, Nehru Place Improvement & Welfare Association (NIWA) is starting a signature campaign to restore its lost glory.

The drive is aimed at bringing to the attention of DDA and other higher authorities the unauthorized encroachment of this market place that has continued relentlessly in the last few years and to take possible steps to put a stop to this exploitation.

As decided at a meeting held on 7th January, stakeholders and retailers from Nehru Place will keep their shops closed for a few hours in the morning on 1st of February and will assemble at the Nehru Place Main Plaza to show their solidarity to the cause taken up by NIWA.  Extending their support to this cause are associations like Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology (PCAIT), Computer Media Dealers Association (CMDA), All Delhi Computers Traders Association (ADCTA) and Export Fabrics Suppliers Association (EFSA).

Anil Sehgal, President, NIWA said, "The steering committee formed by representatives from various associations has finally arrived at this consensus of starting this Nehru Place Bachao movement. This is a movement started to address some of the most common problems that we all are faced with and anyone who feels this as a threat will join us in this cause. We are hopeful of garnering support from both media and government on this."
