Like other electronic gadgets, Indian printer market is also flooded by myriad of brands. But news from the market tells that HP printers are the most favourable brand for consumers. Many retailers are of the opinion that consumes mostly want to buy HP printers. The stiff competition between the other brands such as Epson, Samsung, Lexmark, Brother, Sharp, TVS-E, etc reduced the market share of HP, the brand is still leading in the market. Retailers tell that Canon comes the second place.

Khursheed Ansari of Multitech Computers, Bhopal who deals in brands like HP, Canon, TVS, Epson, informed that though the demand of HP is the highest, he has seen a rise in the demand of Epson printers also. The reason behind this increase in demand of Epson printers is because of introduction of a new technology in their printers and that is Constant Ink Supply (CIS), which gives 5000 -7000 printouts appx. Giving 5000 7000 printouts from a single cartridge is not a small thing, he said. Alt

hough HP also has this technology but consumers find Epson cheaper.

Moreover HP and Canon are demanded more for home use but when it comes to corporate purposes where printing requirements are very high, Epson could also be a good option as it is cheaper, said Ansari.

Vikas Chouksey of Universal Computers, Bhopal, who deals in brands like HP, Canon and Samsung, said, In laser printer section, the demand of HP printer is more though Canon is also giving a close competition to HP. He also said that Sales of printers of both of these brands are neck to neck. People are mainly concerned with the brand name. It is the mindset of almost all the people to go for the best brand. Moreover, the quality of a product definitely matters. He also quoted that in the case of laser printers the sales of almost all the brands he deals in is the same but HPs sale is slightly on the higher side than the other ones. On being asked what is the reason behind this, he said, It depends on
