The Computer Association of Eastern India (COMPASS) has decided to conduct their postponed Annual IT Show, COMPASS 08-09, from April 10-13 at Netaji Indore Stadium, Kolkata. The exhibition was scheduled to conduct from December 18-21 last year. But because of unfavourable circumstances, the association had forced to postpone the exhibition.

"We have got approval from West Bengal government for conducting this exhibition in Netaji Indore Stadium, Kolkata. Also, April seems favourable for us, because the market sentiments are improving with the New Year, and we expect good response for our exhibition. Now, the influence of recession is declining, and the demand for the IT products shows an upward trend. These positive signs encourage us to conduct this IT Show in April," told Pawan Jajodia, President, COMPASS.

Even though formed in 1994 by a few enthusiastic IT entrepreneurs, COMPASS started organizing exhibitions in 1997 and since then, they were uninterruptedly conducting the show every year till 2007. But in 2008, the global financial slowdown shattered the dreams of COMPASS. The IT industry was facing the biggest crisis in the history of its existence and many entrepreneurs scripted its fate in loss. The demand for IT products was abysmally low because of the aversion of the consumers and they were shooing away from the industry due to fear. This, together with price hike, created utter chaos in the IT market.

The new year brings hopes to the IT industry and we can see growing demand for IT products all over India.

MK Shah is a criminal You are aware that MK Shah is a criminal in the United States, right? I think it is very embarassing for the Computer Association of Eastern India to elect MK Shah, of Pecon Software, to an executive committee position when the United States is pursuing a case against him for fraud. I wish COMPASS would have higher standards and not let people like MK Shah into the organization.
