If you are looking to bring freshness back to your business, and expand scope then build expertise and the team.
There comes a time in every business when it needs that extra push, that extra effort to move beyond stagnation. It is also imperative that you work on improving your capabilities and team before changing your product portfolio or increasing box pushing strategy.
To increase business leads invest in creating a team dedicated on seeking newer business opportunities and signing the deal. This will open up new market segments for you. The business development team should constantly collaborate with other teams within the company to let the flow of information be clear. This will help you serve customers better, and your sales team will know exactly what the customer wants. This is important especially for the VAR selling to enterprise and SMB segments.
Encourage your business development team to make most of channel meets. They need to be abreast of all the latest happenings and product information. Also look for ways to participate in events that will generate newer business lead
s for you. You don’t have to just depend on old accounts for steady revenue. Join groups like local chamber of commerce or technology forums for the same.
Work with your vendors partners whenever possible in all the joint marketing efforts. Be the voice of the customer to the vendor. Your business will be appreciated. Make sure to train your team on and off to keep their skill sets honed.
Not only that network with your fellow channel partners – who knows when an opportunity for collaboration and business in turn. Develop expertise in new technologies. Once you develop such expertise, you can actually revive stagnant accounts and bring in new set of customers to the fold. Look at technologies like virtualisation, unified communication, SAN, security solutions etc. Don’t just sell the boxes but offer integration services. This is touted as one of the best source of generating revenues today. Become the IT arm of the SMB client, literally.
