Seagate India Introduces Advance Digital Storage Solutions

Seeing an explosive growth in the desktop storage market, Seagate Technology announced the availability of its next generation Maxtor Onetouch4 family and Barracuda family with one terabyte (1TB) hard disk.

The vendor is targeting end users for the new Maxtor products. "The home is now larger than the office in the amount of storage consumed and content continues to explode," Rajesh Khurana, Country Manager (India and SAARC countries), Seagate Technology told itVARnews. "Whereas Barracuda targets high capacity storage needs of SMBs and enterprises like Data centers and call centers etc."

The key feature of Maxtor family is that it comes with five years warranty and Maxtor Safety Drill, which is the ultimate solution to disaster recovery. Also it provides one touch synchronization and password encryption. It is compatible with Windows Vista, XP and MAC operating system. Barracuda is best fitted to storage hungry business application, maximum capacity servers, gamers, rich media content storage, fire wire/ SATA personal storage, enterprises back up and restore.

Seagate is focusing on retail, solution providers and integrators to position these products in the market. "We follow a focused distribution model. Maxtor is user and channel friendly. We have given very attractive packing and handle on the cover so that retailers and dealers can also hang it. We timely organize training program and seminars to educate our channel partners, corporate and enterprises about new technology. We have 650 plus channel partners in India," added Khurana.

The company is planning to come up with nine more products in India in 2008. Discussing about the future plan Khurana revealed, "We are planning to focus on retail segment, Seagate branded segment, surveillance sector, and white box storage solution."

Pricing and Availability: The new Maxtor and Barracuda are currently available with Supertron computers.

I had bought a 320 GB Hard drive on 21/07/2009 . Now after just a few months I am not able to boot up my system. After showing the system to a support engineer, it came to know that hard drive was bad.so i log a complain on 02/11/09 complain no. (picsgt09029805) after that my hdd replaced but new one hdd(replased hdd) also not working it's having same problem(not able to boot up my system). after that i complain second time on 02/01/10 and complain no.(PICSGT-10000054) But my hdd not replased. I contact costmer care he said that hdd is not in warranty and contact Mr. Ravi from chennai mob. no. 09600094052. i contact Mr. Ravi but he is not resolve my problem. Seagate Hard drive comes with 5 yrs of warranty still my hard disk is not replaced . Serial Number: 9sz65dg8 Part number :st3320613as Complain Number: picsgt-10000054 Till now there is no response for my complain. This is the worst support from the Seagate side.

I purchased a Maxtor 320 GB EHD on 23rd April 2009 and it automatically stopped functioning on 27th September 2009. When I approached the the service centre through the retailer, on 29th sep, they refused to repair or replace stating the serial number is not clearly visible (since it is at the bottom of the device it is scratched with normal wear & tear). This tells the story about the quality of the product as well as their commitment towards the service to their customers. Therefore my suggestion to all of you not to believe this product & DO NOT PURCHASE any product from this company.

I purchases a Seagate 1TB hard drive last January and this was working fine till last November 09, then the drive started giving problems when the system is switched on the drive gives a knocking sound and halts the boot. Yesterday I went to Seagate service center at Nehru Place New Delhi, the Seagate official refused to check the hard drive as I did not have the polythene cover of the hard drive in which it was packed when I bought it the service center refused to check the hard drive without that and believe me they were selling the same for Rs. 25.00, finally with no option I had to buy one and then the service engineer accepted the HDD for checking he took the hard drive in a room and came back in not more than 30 seconds saying the HDD is ok and have no problems, but I am still facing the same problem, can any one tell me what are my options. After my experience with Seagate yesterday I say Seagate SUCKS Western digital is ten thousand times better than Seagate, I face the same problem with WD I just called them and in less than 24 hours they replaced my HDD without any question. I suggest Seagate users to switch to WD or some other brand as Seagate does not respect their customers they just know how to pocket the money of the customer and leave then with no support for their degraded products.

Dear Sir, I am using the Free Agent 320 GB hard disk. for the past 6 months. The total storage on my hard disk is around 120 GB and the status shows that only 14 GB is remaining. I am not able to understand this issue. Also I am doing teh regular back up of my computer files on the sea gate hard disk, but that folder in which it is getting stored shows 0 bytes data. Also when I try to open this folder " System Volume Information" it does not open and shows 0 bytes stored. I dont know how this is possible. It is not showing the message "please press any key to continue with cD.." and it is continuing with CD setup ,
If we remove the CD and restart the machine it is showing the error message "boot failure, system halted" . We are thinking the harddisk is crashed. please let me know the solution
