ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of visual display products, launches innovative DCR (dynamic contrast ratio) technology in its forthcoming models VA1716w, VA2216w and VA2226w, which enhances LCD contrast ratio up to 2000:1. DCR technology is able to automatically detect the image signal and intelligently control the backlight brightness to make the color black look blacker in a dark scene, and make the color white look whiter in a bright environment.

DCR technology is also able to automatically adjust gray level and enhance the gray level performance range. When there is a need to display a dark image, DCR technology under powers the backlight lamp, but proportionately amplifies the transmission through the LCD panel. This gives the benefit of realizing the pot

ential static contrast ratio of the LCD panel in dark scenes.

The primary advantage of DCR technology is to intelligently control the LCD panel's backlight. When the image is watched in a dark room, the drawback is that if a dark scene does contain small areas of very bright light, they may be sacrificed and blown out. By intelligently modulating the backlight, the user is able to experience lower black levels while watching darker movies or video games. This can help provide for a better user experience, and overall front-of-screen performance.

The second advantage of DCR technology is power saving. Since DCR is able to automatically detect image source then to adjust LCD panel back light, the back light power consumption differs from back light usage. Compared to conventional LCDs, in which the backlight is always on, the voltage of LCDs with DCR technology is flexible based on the contrast ratio.

DCR technology can enrich image scale levels and provide end-us

ers superior color performance when viewing video or gaming content. In professional settings, such as graphic design and multimedia editing, DCR technology can provide high image quality.

On the occasion, Gautam Ghosh, Country Manager India, ViewSonic Technologies said "Managing the contrast of any screen is a real concern with the LCDs as it affects the visual capacity of the product. Being a leading provider of visual display products, we have introduced innovative DCR technology in our products which provide end users with a rich viewing experience while maintaining picture quality and color performance."
