MITDA Working Hard To Resolve Direct Selling Issue

Posted on August, Saturday 11, 2007 By Malabika Sarkar

The Malabar IT Dealers Association (MITDA) has taken necessary steps and has brought the matter into a compromising stage.

Kozhikode is witnessing unhealthy competition in the IT market, reason being direct selling by distributors to the end users. The channel partners are upset due to this immoral act of the national distributors like Redington and Ingram. The Malabar IT Dealers Association (MITDA) has taken necessary steps and has brought the matter into a compromising stage.

Speaking to itVARnews, President, MITDA, Vinod Kumar said, "Some well known players in the market like Redington and Ingram were involved in an immoral act like direct selling in the market, due to which the channel partners had to suffer. But with the association strength, Redington has compromised in the matter, withdrawing the court case."

Big players like Ingram and Redington are accused of direct selling in the market. They are involved in this act since last three years. The recently elected members of MITDA including The All Kerala Computer Manufacturing and Dealers Association (AKCMDA) has joined hands

to support and work for the channel's welfare.

Both the associations are now busy collecting complains against these distributors. The region is suffering from a pathetic condition without any service support. Kumar added, "We are working hard for the betterment of the dealers by taking a note of the complaints they have and would be working accordingly. At present the whole region is complaining of service issue which we are taking care of."

While talking to some of the channel partners in the region about the direct selling issue, they said that they are facing a major price-cutting problem and have reduced purchasing from these distributors.

As Proprietor, Computer Plus, P.M Paul said, "We are facing lot of problem due to direct selling by Redington and Ingram. Now we have stopped purchasing or any kind of dealing with these big players who are involved in this immoral act."
