The upcountry region of Jamshedpur is witnessing a good movement for IT market.
The upcountry region of Jamshedpur, a legend in Indian industrial history and famous for its rich industries, tribal culture, beautiful parks and mining, is witnessing a restricted movement for IT market. There is handsome growth in the industry and mining segment but the picture is not so rosy for end user segment.
Speaking to itVARnews, Proprietor, B.L Infotech, R.K. Agarwal, "Though branded computers are on the rise due to demand from the industrial houses, we have witnessed less growth due to minor demand in the end user segment."
Though almost all the renowned brands have service centers here, the servicing process takes some unwarranted time. Director, Image Technologies, Sais Nisar commented, "The service centers sometimes take four days when the matter can be solved within one day. We have own service centers to manage the situation to some extent."
Partner, Computer Wizard International, Indrajit Gupta put up a mixed picture. He said, "Brand's f
ortune is increasing. Branded computers have captured almost 60 percent market here. Due to the presence of big industrial houses the awareness level is high. HP- Compaq desktops and Compaq, Lenovo laptops have the highest demand here. But the service support of Compaq is not up the mark here. Compaq provides support through local service provider here who takes some extra time."
Laptop selling is on the rise. Branch Manager, Caltron Info Trade Pvt Ltd, Indrajit Singh informed, "Our laptop sell has captured more than 70 percent of the total sold computers. There is a computer park in the pipeline. Once it comes into existence, there will be a major boost. Moreover, opportunities of higher education are limited here. If the problem is solved, end user segment will be strengthened."
Apart from computers, lifestyle products and Printers are witnessing an increasing demand. Nisar added, "Judging the market we have started dealing with Canon Digital camera, Apple I-pod, and
Creative speaker system. Apart form them per month we sell around 150-200 HP printers."
The industrial and mining sector here are helping IT market. Proprietor, Raisurana & Sons, Aloke Raisurana informed, "TATA Group is a major client of ours. Moreover, many SOHO and SMB players are coming in the Ajitpur Industrial Zone. Moreover, the surrounding area is rich in mining. Shopping malls are coming. So, we can predict that these sectors will influence the IT market to a great extent. We are planning to deal with lifestyle products also."
