ProCurve Networking by HP announced the appointment of Amol Mitra as Director of Marketing, Asia Pacific and Japan.

ProCurve Networking by HP announced the appointment of Amol Mitra as Director of Marketing, Asia Pacific and Japan, charged with supporting the company’s aggressive market expansion in the world’s fastest growing region.

Mitra, who was previously ProCurve’s Director of Worldwide Product Marketing based in the US, will take up his new appointment at the organization’s Asia Pacific operational headquarters in Singapore.

Mitra and his team will lead ProCurve’s market development, product marketing, press and analyst relations, and marketing communications in Asia Pacific and Japan. He is responsible for the strategy to ensure significant growth for ProCurve in the region over the coming years. He will report to Louis Au, ProCurve Networking Vice President and General Manager of Asia Pacific and Japan.

Mitra joined HP in 1993 and has held a number of senior executive positions within HP’s networking and storage organization. During his tenure, he

has delivered several technology and business achievements including the innovation, introduction and development of several flagship products. He also championed ProCurve’s entry into the wireless and security technology space.

More recently, Mitra has been instrumental in ProCurve’s rise to No. 2 position in the networking switch market and developing ProCurve’s 21st century Adaptive Network Vision.

Mitra holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from Purdue University as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Davis.
