Speaking to itVARnews, Proprietor, Rite Computers System Incorporation, Sanjeev Kumar said, "The IT market in Panipat is booming at a rate of 50 percent. The channel partners in the region are also expecting this high growth rate to continue in the future. Laptops sales have increased manifolds. Presently, we sell around 40-50 laptops in a month. Students and professionals like doctors, engineers and lawyers are the main target segment for laptops because of its features like low prices, better product, compatibility and mobility."

HP, Compaq, Acer, Lenovo and LG are the brands, which are present in the market, and HP is the brand, which is ruling in Panipat. Branded computer and laptops are more popular in the region with as

sembles PCs capturing a small piece of the pie.

Elucidating on the segment demand, Director, Apple Computers, Manish Makhija commented, "With a set up of few corporates and number of small industries, the demand of IT products from this sector is high here. A lot of demand comes from industries like Indian Oil Corporation and variety of handloom industries. Apart from this SOHO segment plays an important role in generating overall demand."

Rashi Peripherals, Ingram are among the few regional distributor in Panipat. The development in the IT sector in this region can be viewed by the fact that service is never an issue for the channel partners. Various brands have its authorized service center in Panipat.

However, the issues here are that of gray market and declining margins. Proprietor, Mangla Soft Solutions, Mukesh Aggarwal, said, "The major problem which we are facing is related to less margins and sale of duplicate products that is affecting channel sales

. Few dealers are selling their products at very less margins of Rs 80-100, due to which other dealers are not able to sell their products."
