Dibrugarh, one of the most renowned tourist places of Assam is also now experiencing good IT growth. Most of the channel partners seem to be in high spirits on the future of IT business here. The market scenario revealed that the market of laptops is expanding as compared to the desktops.

While speaking to itVARnews, Proprietor, Commercial friends, Suresh Aggarwal, said, "The market is showing inclination towards laptops and hence the demand for laptops is increasing and a 50 percent growth rate in the laptops sales has been recorded this year. Those who are planning to buy a good PC, instead of buying the bulky desktop prefer sleek, stylish and mobile laptop. People are more and more opting for these mobile devices in place of desktops, as there are no major differences in the prices too."

Although most of the major brands are present in the market, but IBM, HP, and Lenovo are among the leading brands and Acer is among the introductory brands here.

r>Discussing about the market scenario, Proprietor, Mc Hub, Vikas Kugoi, said, "We are among the few authorised dealers of Dibrugarh. The IT market of the region is growing, but at a very slow and steady rate, as compared to the other regions of Assam. The dealers in the regions are putting all efforts to increase sales like various schemes have been started by them to attract the consumers. Due to this reason we are planning to open our new office in Guwahati."

Redington, Rashi Peripherals and Ingram are among the leading distributors in the region.

"In all the government sectors Acer desktop computers are more popular, where as in the corporates, Lenovo and HP are flourishing. But the sale is not increasing at a very high rate. Primarily, all the sectors like corporate, government and end user are our target audience," said, Proprietor, Trade and Technology, Ajay Jalan.

As far as the services are concerned, Dibrugarh is facing lot of service issue related

to laptops of few major brands. Very few service centers are located in the region, which is escalating the troubles of the dealers. Availability of the less stock is another issue faced by the dealers here.
