New office bearers take charge of ITTA – Pondicherry

Posted on May, Saturday 19, 2007 By itVARnews Staff

Information Technology Trader's Association (ITTA), Pondicherry, has a new set of office bearers to drive it.

Four years since its inception in 2003, the Information Technology Trader's Association (ITTA), Pondicherry, has successfully concluded its annual general meeting and has a new set of office bearers to drive it.

Following the association's usual practice, the appointments have been made on a rollover basis without any contest. Outgoing president, P N Prasad, who has been assigned the role of an advisor said, "Now the new team will run the show. We are just to guide them." He will join the past presidents, Ravi Kumar and Suresh Soni, who already hold advisory posts.

Commenting on the expectations from the newly appointed president, M. Magesh, and his team, Prasad said, "We hope that the new team will efficiently fulfill those expectations of the members that we were unable to during our tenure in office and uphold the prestige of the ITTA flag in the same way as we have, over the last four years."

"We are in the process of improving computer literacy in th

e rural areas where the awareness is remote, as this will enable us to eventually tap these regions and better our business," informed Magesh. Speaking on the issues that the association seeks to address in the near future, he added, "We are also in the final stages of drafting some regulations for the vendors and will complete that on priority basis."

ITTA is also looking at appointing a Chairperson who will interact with dealers from smaller neighboring towns of Pondicherry and bring them under the association's wing, said Magesh.

Explaining the protocol followed by the association for the appointment of the new committee, Prasad said, "We have cultivated this habit that every member will hold a post for no longer than a year and following that will be promoted. Thus, it takes five years to get promoted from the office of treasurer to that of the president and in those five years the members are well-versed with the functioning of the association."
