FortiASIC Content Processor, increased connectivity options and active high availability capabilities comprise Enterprise ROBO offering.

Fortinet – the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions – has introduced the FortiGate 50B, a high-performance, full-featured multi-threat security appliance for enterprise branch offices, retail outlets and small businesses.

The FortiGate-50B incorporates Fortinet’s newest-generation FortiASIC to deliver significant increases in antivirus and virtual private networking (VPN) performance over previous FortiGate-50/FortiGate-50A models and adds several new connectivity options for increased availability and configuration flexibility.

As enterprises work to deploy large-scale multi-threat security solutions to lock down their corporate networks, hackers are increasing their focus on the vulnerabilities of the remote/branch offices and retail outlets and small businesses that need equally stringent defense. However, these smaller outlets often lack the infrastructure and on-site expertise necessary to manage multiple point security p

roducts or tackle complex security issues – such as the technical sophistication of today’s complex threat methods.

The integration of Fortinet's next generation FortiASIC Content Processor and new system components allow for an unprecedented increase in performance and connectivity options for a system of this size.

New features in the FortiGate-50B deliver customers the following benefits:

· Increased Performance: Fortinet's next-generation FortiASIC and other enhanced system components deliver performance boosts of 200 percent for VPN and 100 percent for antivirus.
· Increased Port Density: The addition of an integrated three-port switch enables multi-device connectivity options, reducing hardware requirements. Dual-WAN interfaces give administrators more flexibility to create fail-over or load balancing connections.
· High-Availability: The increased port density allows for active/active high availability (HA) capabilities, which results in improved up

time and less network downtime. With the introduction of HA configurations in the FortiGate-50B, now all FortiGate systems are capable of active/active high availability configurations.

Like all FortiGate systems, the FortiGate-50B delivers comprehensive network and content protection through the integration of eight essential security applications and services - including antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention (IPS), antispam, antispyware, Web filtering and traffic shaping. The systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard subscription services, which provide continuous updates to help protect against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans, and other threats - around the clock, and around the world.
