Plustek launches IPcam P1000A

Posted on October, Tuesday 31, 2006 By News Desk

Watch your premises over computer or cellphone with Plustek's network camera.

Plustek Inc., one of the global leaders in imaging solutions, has announced the launch of its revolutionary network camera, the IPcam P1000A in India. It enables users to watch their premises—be it home, office or operation facility—from anywhere and at anytime.

For example, parents can monitor their children at home, keep an eye on the pet, check if all windows are closed and the stove is turned off. Business owners can check what's happening in their office or take a look at inventory in the store no matter how far they are of what time of the day it is.

Users on the move can watch live and recorded video feed from Plustek IPcam P1000A camera on their mobile computers (laptops), PDAs and cellphones enabled with Internet connectivity. Besides this, users can also broadcast live activity videos, product shoot etc., to viewers in real time over a LAN or the Internet.

According to Vice President, Plustek Inc., Karen Ku "Unlike the traditional CCTV cameras

that involve high total cost of ownership (acquisition costs and recurring costs), elaborate wiring of the premises, setting up of control rooms and staffing, Plustek's OptiCam P1000A is a great security and surveillance device that works over existing computer networks and can be readily connected to the Internet. Camera functions like brightness, image resolution and quality, sound level etc., can be controlled by the user from anywhere."

IPcam P1000A can be programmed to start recording only when it detects any motion or to record for a certain length before and after the motion. The motion sensitivity and threshold values can be easily adjusted. It can also be programmed to start and stop recording at a particular time and day of the week.

The system displays all recordings in a list. Users can choose any recording from the list and play it back at desired speed, copy it elsewhere, convert it into motion JPEG format or simply delete it. Recordings can also be searc

hed by their time, day and date of recording or on the basis of keywords, which can be ascribed to them prior to recording.

The recordings reside on the hard disk of the system. IPcam P1000A can monitor free space on the specified recording disk and stops recording when it becomes less than a preset value. Maximum recording capacity value can be set for individual camera units wherein they can be programmed to either save the new feed by overwriting the old or stop recording when the set capacity is reached.

There is a provision for auto-backup of the recordings—IPcam P1000A automatically copies recordings in a specified folder on a specified disk at a specified time. What's more, it can record at desired intervals—from 2 images per second to 1 image per hour.

It is easy to set-up and use and can be placed almost anywhere. Each camera can be set up individually with a different name, resolution, image quality setting, recording format etc.). Plustek IPcam P1000A s

upports up to 5 users simultaneously however the number of concurrent users can be restricted through use of password protection.

With its own IP address and built-in web server, Plustek IPcam P1000A connects directly to the computer network and can be remotely accessed from any standard Internet browser. It features superior image quality in three different resolutions (VGA – 640 x 480, CIF – 320 x 240, and QSIF – 160 x 120) and can transfer up to 30 frames per second in CIF and QSIF mode.

Pricing & Availability
The IPcam P1000A is available in India through Plustek's exclusive national distributor TelExcell Information Systems at a price of Rs 7,500 plus taxes respectively with a warranty of One year period.
