Ratan Batra takes Adobe Cue

In order to streamline its designing processes, leading advertising agency Ratan Batra has upgraded its existing set up to Adobe InDesign, besides installing Adobe Version Cue, a part of Adobe Creative Suite (CS), on a central server.

In order to streamline its designing processes, leading advertising agency Ratan Batra has upgraded its existing set up to Adobe InDesign, besides installing Adobe Version Cue, a part of Adobe Creative Suite (CS), on a central server.

“Right from the time we started using DTP software way back in 1989, we felt the need to have some management software which would help us to integrate the various graphics software we were using, maintain a log or history of workflow, manage data, and systematically archive files for easy retrieval,” said Sangeeta Batra, Director – Digital Imaging at Ratan Batra.

In order to take full advantage of the latest technology and bring everything to a new and uniform level, the agency felt that a part-solution could not meet its requirements. Unfortunately, the graphics software available at that time did not allow the use of third-party software. Moreover, the graphics software did not have any security features, which is very i

mportant in the advertising line of business. Ratan Batra had, therefore, been looking for software that could do all this.

When it came across Adobe CS and Version Cue, it jumped at the opportunity. Adobe CS happened to meet most of the agency’s requirements in terms of seamless integration with various software, data management, archival, and security.

To install Adobe CS with Version Cue, Ratan Batra would have to install the latest OS for Macintoshes and PCs - which meant upgrading the hardware as well. Ratan Batra weighed the cost of upgrade against all the advantages that the new technology offered – and considered it worth investing in Adobe. Said Batra, “Considering the overall improvement in designing flexibility, performance, and productivity, we thought it well worth migrating to the new environment.”

Besides Version Cue, Ratan Batra also chose to upgrade to InDesign – which has already been widely acclaimed for its revolut
