Mobile Internet is emerging as one big application that is being fuelled by 3G and increasing the data usage for telcos as well.
Mobile Internet Handheld mobile Internet access is very popular in India today and 3G is encouraging its usage to a large extent. This is also happening as there are a huge number of smartphones available in the country today.
Mobile internet is enjoying rapid uptake due to multiple factors, such as: (1) fast 3G connections – statistics show twice the uptake of browsing services with 3G versus prior technologies, (2) reasonably priced access plans, (3) the arrival of easy to use, fast-loading micro-browsers that run on little memory, and (4) widgets and quick launch icons. This is surely set to increase the data usage for small & medium sized businesses (SMB), as well as the enterprise users within the country.
Powered by 3G communications technology, mobile internet offers push-email and organizer apps in addition to browsing. It also offers easy to use icons for launching popular applications like email, Facebook, etc, and is available on both basic handsets and smartphones. Instant Internet is charged on a usage basis with only the phone cost as entrance fee. As a result of mobile internet penetration going further deep within the country, the 3G user base is increasing as well.
What is more is that there is a large chunk of ecommerce focused activities now happening on the mobile internet side. Websites like www.zatse.com or www.ibibo.com are heralding that change which is helping the user gain more information at their own will.
Moving forward, as the country moves towards better data usage regime, internet is set to play a central role towards making sure that 3G communications technology helps in terms of making the data flow seamlessly between the networks of an operator and helping the user communities receive unprecedented data usage at their will.
