Datamax-O\'Neil Launches Portable 3-Inch Label Printer

Posted on January, Tuesday 17, 2012 By itVAR News Network

Datamax-O'Neil, a global provider of label and receipt printing solutions, has launched the RL3, a portable 3-inch label printer designed to meet the diverse applications required in the retail mobility environment. Combining reliability and resiliency with easy integration and intuitive design, the RL3 is the ultimate store operations productivity tool.

"We conducted extensive market research and determined that customers needed a 3-inch portable label printer that could operate for a full 8-hour shift and offer the durability to withstand the often rough-and-tumble environments mobile retail workers experience," said Paul Weslake, senior product manager for Datamax-O'Neil portable printers.

The printer's dual wall construction and rubber bumpers offer maximum protection, and combined with its magnesium and stainless steel casing, helped it achieve the MIL-STD 810 drop standard, which involves 26 consecutive drops at 6 feet to concrete. The RL3 is the only portable 3-inch label printer to offer a two-year warranty.

High user productivity is achieved by a long-lasting lithium battery providing full-shift printing capability, a large media capacity for uninterrupted operation and a well protected LCD screen and buttons that are easily visible and intuitive.

Wireless integration into 802.11 a/b/g infrastructures is assisted by Datamax-O'Neil's NETira configuration and remote management software applications. In addition, the RL3 provides support for the latest wireless security functionality. To further ease integration requirements, the RL3 offers built-in ZPL, CPCL, IPL, XML and ExPrint emulation, and provides compatibility with enterprise and/or legacy ERP systems.

"The RL3 gives retail customers a reliable, rugged, and easy to use mobile printer that offers fast speeds to expedite the printing of labels for price changes, inter-company transfers, warehouse storage and mobile point-of-sale (POS)," Weslake explained.

Orders for the RL3 can be taken immediately with shipments beginning in the third quarter of 2012.
