Cloud all about insulating Enterprise’s IT investment

Posted on January, Wednesday 11, 2012 By itVAR News Network

IT managers and CIO of large companies strongly feel that the business driver for Cloud computing adoption is the need to look for optimization of IT investment and IT costs, in order to achieve faster time-to-market and insulate the enterprise from technology changes / upgrades of IT infrastructure on the long run.

And among the biggest challenge in front of the Cloud adoption for an enterprise is related to - Security, Performance, Availability and Privacy rank as top challenges. Notwithstanding these concerns, analysts close to the cloud community believe that it is only a question of time before Cloud adoption becomes main-stream, if not the only way of consuming IT.

Massive investments going into Cloud R & D, standardization of services and early successes enjoyed by global companies like Google or Microsoft to name a few will lead to innovations and increased adoption of Cloud based solutions among Enterprises entities in the country as well as globally.

Experts also strongly believe that it is emerging markets like India and APAC whose industries have a relatively lighter legacy technology foot-print will lead cloud adoption on a global scale and this is fast becoming a reality.

Cloud will also open up market opportunities like the under-served mid-market segment across developing and developed markets. IT Services companies would need to look at this an opportunity to gain share in this rapidly growing segment.

Unlike popular belief, although IT Infrastructure Virtualization and associated services are fast becoming the foundation of Cloud Services, it might not be biggest driver of revenue today but moving forward this is where the major chunk of revenue is likely to come from.

Therefore, it is essential to offer an integrated Cloud Services approach towards an enterprise. Growth of Cloud Services market should be viewed in association with overall IT market for IT Services whose size is estimated to be in upwards and moving forward this is where growth is likely to come from.
