As intense competition continues to erode the profitability and growth prospects for the telco community, communications driven Ethernet technology is set to drive future profitability for the telco community.
This dwells from the fact that there is a big demand for new age services from the enterprise set of customers that require uninterrupted bandwidth and crystal clear SLAs.
And hence, the service providers are accelerating their transition to an IP-based NGN. Service providers require innovative, converged infrastructures to improve delivery of current services and provide a scalable framework for tomorrow's new, bandwidth-intensive services such as IPTV, video on demand (VoD), gaming, and voice over IP (VoIP) that almost all of their enterprise customers are looking forward to.
Communications driven solutions that provide greater network intelligence, integration, and flexibility will not only give carriers short-term relief, but also position them to seize new market opportunities. The IP focused NGN empowers telcos to meet the needs of all customer segments within the enterprise universe to efficiently and economically provide the basis for delivering applications that enable sustainable profitability and subscriber retention for their end cusstomers.
It is very important to note that convergence is more than central to the IP NGN, and it occurs in three fundamental ways: application convergence, service convergence, and network convergence. In order to meet new business challenges of their end customers within the enterprise domain, service providers must have sufficient communications intelligence in the network infrastructure to scale current services and quickly enable new services to be enabled as per the changing requirement of their customers. This is what is being delivered and promised by Ethernet today.
Moving forward, more and more operators and carriers are set to gain from the Ethernet advantage being delivered to their end customers and allow them to quickly provide new services that are set to increase their profitability levels many fold.
