Voxbone looks to tap the Indian market

Posted on December, Tuesday 20, 2011 By itVAR News Network

Lee Tian Yew, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Voxbone speaks to ITVARNEWS on the company’s outlook for the Indian market.

Q.  How is Voxbone looking at the Indian market?

India is a rapidly growing industrialized nation which has seen explosive growth in terms of international trade and business over recent years.  Along with the booming growth comes globalization and with globalization, the movement of people and business expansion overseas.    For companies to compete and stay relevant in the global marketplace, it is important to ensure that they remain visible in the international space and can be easily reached by the world.   For individuals such as NRIs and overseas Indians migrants, this means an increased demand for a facility in which they can easily and readily call home to their loved ones in India in a cost effective manner.

As the market leader in inbound call services such as DIDs and Toll Free numbers in 50 plus countries and more than 4,000 cities, Voxbone is excited by the sheer size and opportunities for international inbound call services which we think is currently under tapped here.

Q. What kind of go-to-market strategy are you having for India? What kind of partnerships are you looking at?

Our primary go-to-market strategy would be to work with and through licensed service providers and mobile carriers.  The type of partners would include:

   Mobile operators
   ILD service providers
   Virtual Calling card operators
   ITSPs
   Value Added Service Providers

Through the partnerships, we offer end users and enterprises in India the facility and the instant opportunity to acquire phone numbers/toll free numbers services in 50 plus international countries and enable calls from these international countries forwarded to them in India, like local calls.

Q. What are some of the Voxbone’s India plans?

As a first step, we recently set up an office in Mumbai to focus on business development activities.  Through this platform, we hope to make it easier for our potential partners to contact us for co-operation opportunities.   The longer term outreach would be to interconnect and directly worked all Mobile, ILDs and ITSP licensees in India.

 Q. Please share with us some challenges that you are facing in India?

One major challenge we face today is the awareness of our services.   The concept of International inbound phone numbers services or DIDs in lowering IDD costs are still largely unfamiliar to majority of the population and industry.  The other challenges we face are the pervasiveness of broadband and the regulatory environment on unrestricted Internet Telephony.

  Q.  How Value Added Resellers can look at DID service bundled into their offerings?

With an extensive international coverage of more than 4,000 cities in 50 plus countries backed by a global private IP backbone and 100% network availability, Value Added Resellers (VARs) can benefit instantly from Voxbone’s ready platform and extensive coverage to bundle inbound voice services for their own users.    There is also no need for capital expenditure investment and VARs can potentially offer services such as:

•         International Access Numbers – Potential VARS would include call centers, call conferencing providers or corporations with overseas branches or virtual offices.
•         Low Cost ILD Services Into India - VARs would include ILDs operators, ITSPs or virtual calling card operators in India targeting NRIs or travelers in particular.
•         Overseas Contact Numbers – VARS could potentially bundle our phone numbers for Corporate as overseas dial in number or hotels that offers number for international room reservations.
•         Mobile Value Added Services – Mobile operators in India could potentially offer a   “one   sim – many international phone numbers solutions.
