Posted on December, Thursday 15, 2011 By itVAR News Network

Samsung Electronics has been awarded the first prize for Air conditioners at the Energy Conservation Awards 2011.

Samsung was given the Award as the best Manufacturer National of BEE Star Labelled Appliances in the Air Conditioner category by the Honourable Union Minister for Power, Shri Sushilkumar Shinde at a Function held in the Capital.

The Function was presided over by the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh. Varghese Joseph, General Manager, AC business and Pushpesh Gupta, Sr Manager - R&D, Samsung India received the award on behalf of the Company.

The Function was attended by industry, government and Bureau of Energy Efficiency representatives. Samsung has won the Award based on criteria like the number of star labelled products sold, the energy savings achieved thanks to its technology and the growth in sales of energy efficient products over the previous year.

“We are honoured to receive this prestigious award because it recognizes our endeavour to introduce and promote energy efficient products in the Indian market. Samsung was the first to introduce star ratings across its entire Refrigerator range and we are committed to promoting energy efficiency across our entire product portfolio, be it televisions, refrigerators or air conditioners,” said Mahesh Krishnan, Vice President, Home Appliances, Samsung India.

Samsung has also received a Certificate of Merit for its Refrigerators at the NECA 2011. The National Energy Conservation Awards has been a very prominent showcase for energy efficiency’s most industrious advocates and innovators since its inception in 1990. Launched by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), the National Energy Conservation Award recognizes individuals and companies who have demonstrated a significant and tangible commitment to the cause of energy efficiency and energy conservation.

Samsung has a wide portfolio of Air Conditioners ranging from Window to Split, Floor Standing, Commercial and Duct. Ideal for any requirement, Samsung ACs are engineered to consume minimum energy, thus contributing to saving the earth’s resources and your money on electricity bills. The Samsung AC range has the S-UTR compressor, Smart Saver mode and S-inverter technology that contribute to lowering energy consumption by 60% compared to conventional ACs. While the S-UTR Compressor maximises the energy efficiency of Samsung AC by up to 10%, the Smart Saver and Smart Inverter technology automatically adjusts the AC cooling on or off depending upon the temperature to save electricity. The Samsung AC range consists of 34 Split AC models across the Invincia, Purista, Crystal and Max series with more that 80% of the models being rated 3 Star plus.
