Rashi Peripherals has come under the scanner in the North-Eastern market as the National Distributor is accused of directly providing invoices to some of the end users.
NECTA on its part has given the distributor clear verbal instructions and threatened it with dire consequences if it does not stop selling its products to end users.
The said distributor is also charged with patronising Savera Marketing, the retail wing created by Rashi by passing confidential information schemes to it. According to many dealers in the state, Savera happens to enjoy a ready market under the aegis of Rashi and they see this as a potential risk for their businesses. NECTA members complain that when they inquire about certain products at Rashi not available in its stock, Savera approaches with an offer for its customers that the dealers are not even aware of. They cite an instance when Logitech last came up with a scheme, Rashi is said to have passed the whole credit to Savera, hence making it the only beneficiary of this whole offer.
In the recently held NECTA half yearly meet, the President also suggested closing all billings with the Distributor if the same continued and this was acknowledged unanimously by the board. The Legal Head of NECTA was asked to write a mail to the local Head of M/s Rashi Peripherals on why are they directly billing customers when they project themselves as a National Distributor. The Association also communicated the matter to all the other Associations from the East and asked for their support to fight this cause.
The Association even went up to the extent of boycotting the seventh edition of Channel Business Forum (CBF), kicked off by Rashi Peripherals throughout the country when the latter failed to act as expected by NECTA on this issue in spite of repeated pleas.
In response to this boycott, Krishna Choudhury, Founder & Director, Rashi Peripherals wrote a mail from Mumbai to NECTA on 14th November stating that the issue would be taken up more seriously and all their grievances would be looked into. When contacted Rajesh Goenka, Vice President - Sales & Marketing said that Rashi is always open to discuss and sort out any issues faced by the dealers. “There is some misunderstanding for which we need a mutual discussion. At the same time Rashi is always open for making correction if any error has happened. We hope to resolve it asap. In our opinion it is a communication issue and once we are able to sit together, I am sure we will be able to resolve it. I wish the same gets clarified soon.”
But NECTA has always been determined of going for a strong protest against M/s Rashi Peripherals, Guwahati if the Distributor fails to clear its stand on all the issues leveled against it. True to its words, the President of NECTA passed a resolution in an internal meet held on 1st December, which said that all NECTA members, channel members, dealers, distributors and Regional Distributors will stop billing any product from Rashi Peripherals, effective from 2nd December, 2011 until further notice is circulated.
With NECTA having taken a strong decision of stopping its billing with the distributor, the issue has reached serious heights and needs immediate redressal.
On the other hand, the concerned persons from Rashi peripherals are ready to sort out this issue by conducting a meet with NECTA and they are sure that the issue will get resolved at the earliest, since they are ready to compromise with NECTA’s terms.
But it is still a very nascent state to conclude anything as the issue is still on such a divider that it can take a turn in any direction. The conclusion would be derived only after the meet between NECTA and Rashi gets conducted. Let’s just wait and watch how this whole issue gets resolved...
