Trend Micro Intros Gen-next Virtualization and Cloud Security solutions

Posted on November, Tuesday 29, 2011 By itVAR News Network

Trend Micro has announced its vision for a smart, data-centric security framework and launched its next-generation of virtualization and cloud security solutions, Deep Security 8.0 and SecureCloud 2.0, at CloudSec2011, Mumbai. It also reaffirmed its support for governments across the region, including India, in accelerating the development and deployment of cloud security standards.

The security industry is at a crossroads, facing a complicated horizon that covers an escalation of targeted attacks against companies; growth in the use of unsecured personal mobile devices; and cloud implementations where data can be accessed anytime, anywhere. By the end of 2014, penetration of cloud email and collaboration services (CECS) will stand at 10 percent and will have passed the "tipping point" with broad-scale adoption under way, according to Gartner, Inc.

Although Gartner believes that the time is right for some enterprises — particularly smaller ones and those in industries with long underserved populations such as retail, hospitality and manufacturing — to move at least some users to CECS during the next two years, analysts warned that readiness varies by service provider and urged caution.

The new security model by Trend Micro puts the spotlight on data by integrating threat and data protection capabilities within a unified framework, ensuring visibility into who is accessing what data, when, where and how.  It offers smarter threat protection – local, correlated threat intelligence sensors that provide rapid identification of targeted attacks – and smarter data protection technologies that provide contextual awareness of data usage across multiple locations.
This new model updates and adds to the power of the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network infrastructure, which correlates data from more than 70 billion daily queries and has protected more than 130 million users since it was first unveiled in 2008.

“Trend Micro envisions that during 2012 and beyond, business will need a more holistic and a smarter security. With the rapid consumerization of IT and the sophistication of attacks, businesses will need better and faster threat protection that enables business productivity whilst increasing efficiency and manageability of their security. Our involvement and extensive work with governments, industry associations and businesses has put us on a good platform that can help businesses stay more protected while embracing opportunities and advantages of cloud computing and consumerization with new confidence,” informed Mahendra Negi, CFO & CEO, Trend Micro Inc.

In Asia Pacific, Trend Micro sales of server security for virtualization environment have surpassed physical environments in first half of 2011, with 116% YoY growth. Governments are leading the adoption of virtualization security, followed by health care and banking institution. Telecom sectors are actively piloting the integration of virtualization security into their infrastructure-as-a-service offerings.

The launch of the new generation of virtualization and cloud security solution extend Trend Micro’s leadership and innovation. Deep Security 8.0 is the first agentless anti-malware for virtual environments, and the first to include intrusion prevention and web application protection as part of an all agentless solution across physical, virtual and cloud computing environments.
