Posted on November, Saturday 19, 2011 By itVAR News Network

NIC is fast adapting towards cloud architecture in order to deliver e-governance related IT applications to remote villages in India.

India’s National Informatics Center or NIC, the riverbed for all the IT adoption in India is all set to look towards the cloud way when it comes to delivering e-governance related IT applications at the village level. NIC is set to use Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) software is the cornerstone of the e-governance cloud project in India that is delivering the power of modern information technology to remote districts and villages throughout that country.

NIC, a division of the Department of Information Technology, has already the foundation for its cloud project, which calls for the execution of all the cloud-based e-governance projects on a bigger and national scale.

Globally as well as in India, India’s NIC is quite well known for providing the network backbone and a wide range of ICT services to government organizations throughout India, including a nationwide communication network for decentralized planning, improvement in government services and wider transparency of national and local government institutions.

As part of this cloud focused initiative, NIC is delivering e-governance related IT services and infrastructure to remote districts and villages with the help of a high performance architecture. This cloud focused platform is specifically designed to support the basic needs of village level communities with the help of always-on,  application server in a remote district or village can bring critical government services to a complete halt. NIC aims to eliminate these roadblocks with the help of remotely-adjusted cloud-based services in areas where it's not possible to install and support on-site server infrastructure.

Moving forward, this amalgamation of cloud and e-governance services by NIC’s is sure to set examples in front of the world. As India has more than 6 lakh villages in the country, a cloud based approach towards delivering complex IT infrastructure to villages will surely go a long way in providing better way of life to the masses.
