Posted on October, Friday 28, 2011 By itVAR News Network

Hidden Reflex, a Bangalore–based software startup has launched a much-improved version of the first browser targeted at Indian audiences:  Epic.  The browser has been created by a dedicated team of Indian engineers on the popular open-source Mozilla platform.

Any internet user can now download the browser for free by logging onto the website www.epicbrowser.com
Epic provides a uniquely Indian browsing experience.  Its India sidebar supports Indian content by providing users access to the latest national and regional news from 100+ publications, 14 live television channels, 100s of TV Shows, 1000s of Feature Length Films, Live Cricket Scores & much more.  Users can choose from 1500+ customized Indian themes and wallpapers ranging from freedom fighters to landscapes to famous Bollywood and regional film stars.  Writing in Indian languages is supported in Epic.  Users can instantly write in Indian languages on any webpage or in Write, Epic’s free built-in word processor.  Thirteen Indian languages are currently supported.

Epic BrowseSafe is a unique security measure that warns users when they’re about to visit potentially dangerous websites.  It currently accesses a database in excess of 3 million websites known to host viruses.  Epic provides built-in support for popular websites.  Epic has adds a download button to YouTube webpages to enable users to download YouTube videos in a variety of formats, and provides desktop alerts for new messages, tweets and emails on Facebook, Twitter and Gmail.
Alok Bhardwaj, CEO and Founder of Hidden Reflex, on Epic 1.8, “Lakhs of Indians and non-Indians in 194 countries are using Epic.  It’s a tremendous responsibility.  We’re thrilled to release the latest update which enhances virtually every aspect of the Epic Browser.”

Epic is the first browser to have built a suite of sidebar applications to improve multi-tasking and productivity.  Pre-installed applications include communication apps for Facebook & Twitter, entertainment apps such as a Picture-in-Picture Video Sidebar, and utilities like My Computer, a To-Do list, and Maps.  Over 1500 user-installable applications are also available to the end user for free.
