Video Content Analytics, Set to Revolutionize Surveillance Market

Posted on October, Thursday 20, 2011 By itVAR News Network

As different market segments realize the importance and benefits of having better and efficient surveillance systems in place, the Video Content Analysis or VCA market is sure to take off in a big way within India.

There are new VCA projects that are coming up in the transportation and critical infrastructure markets and in addition to this there are a lot of enterprise customers that are looking at upgrading their existing surveillance systems in order to gain more from their infrastructure.

Global VCA vendors have continued to build strong partnerships in Indian region with video management software providers and security systems integrators in various parts of the country. However, experts close to the industry believe that the VCA market is far from the potential predicted a few years back and many have found the last two years tough.

Moving forward, there is great long-term potential for analytics providers to expand beyond the constraints of the security industry. For instance, in the automotive segment VCA can be used to alert when the vehicle leaves a lane and monitor the driver’s position as well. Video Analytics can also be used in medical science applications to identify tumors etc and in the consumer market, it is set to revolutionise the way we access and view TV. While the use of video analytics is still in the early stages in each of these markets, the potential for VCA vendors is unquestionable and IMS Research predicts that 2011 will be the year that VCA looks beyond security.

HD to 3D

Globally quite evident as well as in India, HD was the hot trend in the video surveillance industry for the year 2010. And experts believe that 3D could be the next hot technology trend for the video surveillance industry as far as the year 2012 is concerned.

One of the most important aspects for using 3D is that it offers to the security industry an in-depth perception towards surveillance. The extra dimension of depth could pave the way for more accurate and more advanced analytics and better results for the long run.
