Enterprise segments like the public sector, banking and telecom are likely to increase their cloud intake in the coming months
In today’s fast paced data intensive world, increasingly enough, global enterprise customers struggling with continued data growth are looking up towards cloud-based applications to fight with the cost and administrative burden of maintaining their on-premises IT infrastructure.
In a scenario like this, growing proceedings and compliance demands have compounded data retention and retrieval problems, leading to new cloud-based archiving options that better manages costs while transferring risk and complexity. Today’s enterprise world is looking at Cloud-based archives that offers cost savings, ease of use, and scalability of the cloud coupled with best-of-breed security from a trusted provider for defensibly handling high-risk enterprise data.
Email Retention
Experts in the industry feel that big and small organizations are experiencing at least 20% annual email capacity growth. This becomes a big problem if we keep in mind the exponential growth of email archival on a yearly basis.
It is important to note that two of the biggest drivers of email capacity growth are regulatory and legal requirements that bring stringent email archival and retention requirements. Today, enterprises in a multitude of industries must abide by these record retention laws. Many are currently engaged in electronic discovery processes in which email must be preserved and produced as part of a regulatory or legal inquiry.
A number of companies have realized that using backup methodologies and/or native email application records management capabilities do not adequately address their electronic discovery and compliance needs.
At the same time, others see that some of these dated methods would not aid in improving email server performance and storage resource optimization—both of which significantly contribute to IT administrative costs. The drawbacks of existing email retention options are pushing enterprise customers to continuously look for more efficient and cost-effective methods to centralize message data and ultimately improve their email retrieval and preservation practices.
This is where a cloud based data retention system is being accepted by the enterprise community. Moving forward, enterprise sectors like banking, telecom, government are sure to increase their share of cloud computing.
