Posted on August, Tuesday 09, 2011 By itVAR News Network

For past one and a half year, IT channel community of Jammu region has witnessed five theft cases in various parts of the city. Last week a gang of burglars looted the showroom of Bit and Byte Computers.

They accomplished this theft by breaking the locks of the shutter and consequently fled away with around 26 laptops. Another dealer who has been affected twice is Anil Sharma of Shivam Accessories.

This theft series started with Suman Computers and Digitex Systems. All the thefts took place in a similar fashion, suggesting that it has been done by a single gang. FIRs were lodged against these thefts and in regards to this JCDA or Jammu Computer Dealers Association has taken concrete steps by submitting a memorandum to the SSP of Jammu Mr. Jain. He has assured JCDA that steps will be taken against the act. JCDA will also handover the memorandum to the SDPO of Jammu.

With an aim to safeguard the interest of channel community, JCDA has also taken steps by sending across the serial number of the looted laptops among its members and also among the service centers so that if anybody tries to sell or mend the laptops then it can be easily traceable. But according to the SSP these looters will the parts individually. For that also the association is taking steps.

As a precautionary measure, Arvind Koul the President of JCDA has suggested its members to make use of security cameras in their showrooms for the security reasons.
