There have been a few cases of laptops being stolen and use of stolen credit cards to make purchase of products.
Computer dealers in Nashik have reported in the last 2-3 months a few cases of stolen laptops and some have even witnessed cases where the buyers have used stolen credit cards to make the purchase.
“We have seen a number of cases of stolen laptops in the last 2-3 months and we are growing increasingly cautious to prevent any further untoward incidents. The entire channel community is being educated about the security flaws and the ways to rectify it,” says Sharad Mishra, Computer Association of Nashik, who is among the executive members of it. The dealers are increasingly adopting security solutions like CCTVs, and also have now started maintaining logs on credit card payment with the ID proof of the buyer.
The Association has recently selected its board of members comprising of Sharad Mishra, Vinnet Kankariya, Rajesh Kshatriya, Nipul Shah, Amit Padhare and Ajay Sonar. With the executive members in place, it has become easier for the partners to address the problems and get quick results.
