The prestigious CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards instituted by the Computer Society of India’s Special Interest Group on e-Governance and sponsored by Nihilent technologies is inviting nominations for the forthcoming ‘CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards 2010-11’.
Instituted in 2002, CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards have been recognizing the efforts of various government departments at Center, State, Department, District and other levels in achieving good governance using ICT.
This year the esteemed award winners will be felicitated at the awards ceremony held as part of the 46th CSI Annual National Convention during December 1 – 3, 2011 in Ahmedabad.The basic objective of these awards has been to recognize and appreciate the successful efforts by the Centre, States, Departments, and Districts in achieving good governance using ICT. Participation is open to all Government Organizations & Semi-Government Corporations, District Collectorates, Municipal Corporations, Autonomous bodies including Public Sector Undertakings. A selection committee consisting of professionals and practitioners from the industry, academia and government institutions evaluates the nominations. The selection
process includes visits by team of experts to sites to assess the project implementation and tries to validate information on the actual status. The evaluation process is based on parameters categorized into Results, Enablers and Value Indicators framework and is designed to ensure that identification of ‘Finalists’ and ‘Winners’ is based on a transparent and process driven model. The entire nomination process is on-line and the window for on-line registration and nominations is open between June 2011 to 31st July, 2011.
These prestigious awards have received tremendous response and their pre-eminence is widely recognized. The awards function is attended by dignitaries from the IT industry, as well as personalities from government and non-government organizations.In the past this prestigious award has been won by various state governments and departments. Gujrat won the Awards of Excellence in the year 2009-10 in the State Category.
Elaborating on the upcoming awards, Surendra Kapoor, Convener of the Awards 2010-11, said; “e-governance initiatives of various Government establishments are bearing fruit in terms of good governance and benefitting stake holders. Recognizing the value of ICT, Government of India has initiated several Mission mode projects under NeGP program. CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards have continuously strived to create awareness amongst all stakeholders about the various e-governance initiatives taken by different government departments.
