Taking the help of mobile communications infrastructure, the toll-free hotline number would allow people to get quick response from the officials concerned to improve upon existing healthcare facilities in rural parts of the state.
In a drive that is set to take help from the existing communications infrastructure of the state, the government of Jharkhand has announced a healthcare focused hotline for the common public. People can just dial a toll-free number to put healthcare issues in perspective.
The State health department has floated a toll-free number, 1800-3456-524, not just to allow people to have appropriate medical facility but also to help them lodge their grievances.
Experts in the industry strongly believe that it is initiatives like this which are likely to click on the push button for the usage of communications infrastructure and take the system forward.
The hotline facility has been launched in view of the growing complaints that expecting mothers in remote areas were not getting the benefits of the government schemes despite huge money pumped into the scheme. The people appear to have made good use of the system, which prompted the government to extend the facility for other health services as well.
The State government has launched Mukhya Mantri Janani Suraksha Yojna on the pattern of the National Rural Health Mission’s Janani Suraksha Yojna. The scheme was launched in April 2006, under which expecting mothers in rural areas are entitled for financial grant of Rs 1400. A pregnant woman gets Rs 500 at the time of registering them with primary health centres in rural areas.
Moving forward, right combination of telecom and communications applications like this would surely go a long way in terms of defining the next generation killer applications and solutions which are set to be accepted well among the masses of the upcountry and rural population of India.
