LifeSize to double up investments in India

Posted on June, Monday 20, 2011 By itVAR News Network

The company has already roped in 13 channel partners and is on the verge of extending the base
LifeSize Communication, a wholly owned subsidiary of Logitech, gained on video conferencing at a B2B level and soon within a span of 4 years since its inception, Logitech, the personal lifestyle tech accessories manufacturer, acquired it in October 2009. A startup that kick-started in 2005, never knew the roads will take such sudden turns.

Today it is in the mode of extensive expansion across India, doling out more unified communication choices for the SMB market.
“In video communication, the closest that one of our competitors has is three times the cost and five times the size. We would continue to innovate and for that we would double our investments both in terms of technological advancements and business expansion,” says Simond  Claringbold, Vice President, Asia Pacific, LifeSize Communication.
Logitech has a strong position in PC video calling on a Webcam basis as it builds 10 million Webcams a year. While it’s strong in PC video communication, it needed business-centric professional high definition commercial products to complete its product portfolio to extend its footprint in the market. The key thing that the combined entity wants to do is to integrate low-cost Logitech Webcam technology into LifeSize products, which will give customers low cost yet higher performance systems. The company is fervently exploring three main markets in Asia - China, Japan to India, mostly for the huge chunk of SMBs and Micro-SMEs that operate within the countries.
LifeSize began its footprint in India in 2006 with its R&D, where it developed the first HD video conferencing module.  It has opted to form strategic alliances with companies like Skype, Avaya and loosely to some extent with Cisco too. In terms of our relationship with Cisco, it’s more about the choice of the third party integrators. To reach out to the market, the company has roped in around 13 direct partners in India and is on the verge of expanding the partner base. “We are conducting Roadshows, and are in talks with varied number of partners both direct and indirect. We have deployed our solutions in a way that it is easier to adopt hence, the partners wouldn’t face much issues in terms of installation and service. The installation process for our devices is just a mere plug and play activity, hence, the need of IT efficiency is almost nil,” says Vaibhav Kshatriya, Country Manager, India, LifeSize.
The company has roped in the biggies like Reliance Industries, Mahindra Satyam and KPMG and has been a part of a judicial e-governance project. Orissa is one state where using Telejustice, LifeSize HD video communications enabled the judicial process to be secure, timely and rapid. They implemented its technology in the prisons to carry the court proceedings through a video conference. So, as the company continues with a 140 percent CAGR growth, it is eyeing a major share in the video conferencing market, which is expected to touch $203 billion by 2016, at the global level.
