Samsung Unveils Takeback and Recycle Program

Samsung India announced the launch of Samsung Takeback and Recycle (STAR) Program in India.

Samsung India announced the launch of Samsung Takeback and Recycle (STAR) Program in India. The program is aimed at generating awareness and educating consumers on the importance of recycling e-waste and is being rolled out nationally in phases. Through the program, Samsung is leading the efforts to create a recycling based society and at the same time it is making contributions to preserving the environment and using resources efficiently. With this initiative Samsung aims to encourage sustainable practices and induce a behavioral change among the Indian consumer.

As a part of this program, Samsung will encourage consumers to recycle Samsung branded consumer electronics sold in India ranging from Televisions, DVD and VHS players, Audio Equipment and Home Theater Systems, Mobile Phones, Cameras, Camcorders, Computer Monitors, Printers, IT Peripherals and Home Appliancesabsolutely free of cost. Consumers can dispose portable products at 235 locations in 20 cities across t

he Samsung service center network. For bigger products, consumers can avail the product collection facility on a nominal payment basis (if the location is outside the municipal limits) or drop the product at any of the Companys 291 collection centers in 21 cities. This initiative will gradually be extended nationally.

Beyond environmentally friendly products and manufacturing processes, we are aiming to address the important issue of e-waste management with the roll out of STAR program. This initiative reaffirms our commitment towards building awareness for responsible consumption/ waste management practices and ensuring proper end of life treatment to reduce the burden on the planet.
