Jan Uddenfeldt Joins Sony Ericsson as Senior Vice President

Sony Ericsson announces that Jan Uddenfeldt, currently Senior Vice President and Senior Technology Advisor to the CEO of Ericsson, is appointed Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Sony Ericsson effective 1st July

Sony Ericsson announces that Jan Uddenfeldt, currently Senior Vice President and Senior Technology Advisor to the CEO of Ericsson, is appointed Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Sony Ericsson effective 1st July.

At the same time Jan will assume the newly created role of Head of Sony Ericsson Silicon Valley. Jan will be based at the companys Redwood Shores, California, offices and will report directly to Bert Nordberg, President, Sony Ericsson.

Jan brings 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, during which time he has served as CTO of Ericsson as well as led the companys development of both GSM and 3G technologies. He also has vast experience in building technology partnerships and alignment with leading operator customers in the US, Europe, Japan and China. Since 2008 Jan has been based in San Jose, California, and has been responsible for technology strategies for the Ericsson Group.

Jan is deeply rooted in the telecommunications industry, and he will bring a wealth of experience and insight to Sony Ericsson. Over the years he has gained a deep understanding of our industrys leading technologies, as well as our key operator customers around the world.

Commenting on the appointment, Jan said, I am happy to be joining Sony Ericsson during these very exciting and dynamic times in the telecommunications industry. I believe the transition of the mobile phone to the mobile internet is truly beneficial to Sony Ericsson, whose strong focus has been in designing and creating high-end smart phones. The decision to strengthen Sony Ericsson in Silicon Valley is a natural one as the area is the epicentre for the development of mobile operating systems and application software.
