Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia Pte Ltd (FMAL) has developed three new series in its F2MC-8FX family of high-performance 8-bit microcontrollers. These microcontrollers also have embedded flash memory.

The new products will be available in sample quantities beginning May 2010. The products will be produced starting July 2010. These products operate on just 1.8V of power thus being very energy efficient.

For a total of 18 models in the three series, the new products include six models with embedded LCD controllers in the 64-pin MB95370L series, six models in the 80-pin MB95310L series, and six with an I2C interface that has up to two channels in the 24-pin MB95350L series.

According to a press release the new offering has been designed keeping in view the demand for microcontrollers with low-cost LCD controllers.

These products can be utilized in applications including home healthcare devices, such as blood-glucose meters and bloo

d-pressure meters. This is a market that is growing at a healthy rate.

With the ever increasing demand of products like blood-pressure meter, there is a variety of products available to cater such needs of many households. With lot of players in the market and stiff competition, unit prices have dropped 20 to 30% over the past few years. The equipment manufacturers are looking at ways cut costs.

In order to cater to these demands, Fujitsu has introduced its F2MC-8FX family of 8-bit microcontrollers.

Apart from LCD controller facility, the MB95370L and MB95310L series showcases a full complement of timers and communication functions. These functions will help home healthcare equipment manufacturers to reduce their part counts.

The new models are using 1-line on-chip debugging. This minimizes the number of pins customers need to reserve for debugging when developing various products.
