Honeywell’s UOP Signs MoU with IOCL

Energy efficiency and bio fuels are the need of the hour because the human race has to preserve something for future generation for the existence of mankind on this earth.

Energy efficiency and bio fuels are the need of the hour because the human race has to preserve something for future generation for the existence of mankind on this earth. With a memorandum of understanding with Indian Oil Corp Ltd (IOCL), UOP LLC (a Honeywell company) is coming with such a hope. Both the companies entered into this collaboration to conduct research and development for a range of bio fuels technologies and projects in India.

The first phase is an evaluation process, in which IOCL and Honeywells UOP will analyze the setting up of a demonstration-scale unit for the production of green transportation fuels at an existing IOCL site by make use of non-food feedstock available within India. Both companies will also evaluate the feasibility of pyrolysis oil technology to convert lignocellulosic materials, or plant biomass, into renewable power and heat. The focus of IOCL would be conducting research and development for the producti

on of algal oil for use as a feedstock in the green fuels production.

According to Jennifer Holmgren, vice president and general manager of Honeywell UOPs Renewable Energy and Chemicals business unit, The development of viable and sustainable green fuels will enable to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in India. The collaboration is to focus on this objective. We are proud to work with IOCL to support this initiative and movement toward a reduced carbon footprint in India.

Emission of carbon is the biggest threat in environment. So, reduction of the carbon footprint of our business operations at least by 25 percent from the present level is a must and inevitable. We all have the moral responsibility for this. At the same time, it is necessary for sustaining the growth of our business. Green operations consume very less energy so that the cost can also reduce considerably and can produce more from the same or even less inputs. We eagerly waiting for work
