Prasanna Kumar, Regional Director, India and SAARC, Leviton talks on Levitons plans and strategies for Indian market
ITVN: What value proposition Leviton is offering to its customers in India?
Prasanna:Â Leviton, having incorporated in 1906, is a very strong 100 year old organization in the Industry offering end to end solutions for enterprise and residential structured connectivity solutions, electrical, lighting management systems, energy saving products, etc. In India we are currently offering the network solutions products comprising of end to end structured connectivity solutions for enterprise and residential requirements.
ITVN: What all solutions you are offering to Indian market?
Prasanna: From the Network Solution division we are offering end to end Fibre, Copper, MDU solutions for both E
nterprise and Residential connectivity requirements. In the Fibre offering we provide solution for OM4, OM3 and OM2. Copper offering consists of UTP&STP solutions for Cat5E, Cat6 and Cat6A.
ITVN: Kindly shed some light on your networking business in India? What kind of expansion you are looking into it?
Prasanna: Leviton started its India operations in June 2009. Prior to joining Leviton in June 2009, I was with CommScope Systimax Solutions for 9 years heading their India operations. During the last 6 months we have quickly established the start up team comprising of Sales and Support staff, National Distributors (Anixter and Grainger) and a host of System Integrators. As a continuous process, we have been imparting products and site certification training to our business partners. We also have stocks in India and in the FZE, Jabel Ali, Dubai to serve both local currency orders and dollar orde
rs.
ITVN: Your solutions for cloud infra?
Prasanna: Cloud Infra is the next gen technology which is fast emerging within IT Industry. Cloud Infra provides single points of access for all Consumer and Customer computing needs. Since it the Cloud Infra has a centralized approach the overall computer usage raises dramatically. High-speed data transport is required by users to utilize the benefits of Cloud Infra. Leviton provide solutions that support High-speed data transport which consists of OM4 fibre offering&10Gig offering both in UTP and STP.
ITVN: What is your current partner ecosystem?
Prasanna: We have 2 authorised national distributors namely Anixter and Grainger. We have a set of Leviton Premium Partners (LPPs) and Leviton Authorised Partners (LAIs). We are also working closely with Tier 1 partners and having plans to support upcou
ntry business as well. Our National distributors hold stocks in & across the country and thus make the products available quick and fast to our System Integrator partners.
ITVN: Are you looking for expansion in channel base?
Prasanna:Â At this stage we are looking at a good mix of LPPS and LAIs across all the key cities. We are also promoting our solutions for the residential market by engaging with Architects, Builders and Consultants.
ITVN: What are your criteria for choosing partners? What are your expectations from them? What benefits partners can expect from Leviton?
Prasanna: We pick partners looking at their passion for connectivity solutions as one of their main lines of business, their burning desire for customer satisfaction, their track record, their ability to invest in quality staff and their trainings, commi
tment to grow with a strong brand as Leviton.
In return, partners not only get connectivity solutions from Leviton, but a great opportunity to promote other industry leading Leviton solutions like electrical, lighting management & controls, residential solutions etc.

ITVN: Kindly mention any upcoming event you have planned for your partners?
Prasanna: We will continue to participate in industry events like BICSI, Interop, Data Center focussed events during which we will share Levitons new technologies and solutions. We launched our Executive Briefing Center in Bangalore last month, which enable our
business partners and customers to have a touch and feel of Levitons niche solutions all under one roof.
ITVN:Â What are your latest solution offerings and target vertical?
Prasanna: Levitons latest solution offering are OM4 fibre, 10G UTP solution and a restructured MDU for residential solution.
ITVN: What would be your roadmap, focus and go to market strategy for coming fiscal 2010-12?
Prasanna: Having started operations in India last year in June 09, Leviton is highly optimistic of creating a niche for itself in its first full year of operation in 2010, Jan to Dec. We will continue to educate and train our business partners and customers and thus ensure very high quality in every sphere of Leviton business.
