Trend Micro Takes Bottom To Top Route

In order to target the nascent small town and prosperous village market segment with its consumer solutions, the company has new partner appointment plan.

Grass root level growth, that\'s what security solutions company Trend Micro is aiming for with its new consumer and SOHO security solution. It is in fact turning around its distribution strategy to push the new launches into areas where IT is still a growing concept.

The company has recently launched new set of products for end consumer and SOHO includes TrendMicro Internet Security 2010, Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010. But to sell this range the company is not seeking the partnership of its national distributors Ingram Micro and WeP.

Trend Micro is planning to change the distribution of end consumer products and will be recruiting new partners for end consumer and Soho space. Currently, the company is working with two national distributors which are Ingram Micro and WeP for enterprise products.

Trend Micro is taking an inverted route, where it is appointing resellers first and then moving up the chain. This is to push its penetration level to

tier 3, tier 4 class towns. Shedding light on this Amit Nath, Country Manager, Trend Micro India, says, We want to reach to consumer residing in small towns and places as the internet started flourishing there. We are looking for new set of partners to cater to this segment. We are eying on small retailers in small T3 and T4 towns. It is not difficult to appoint tier 1 partners but reaching to that level is difficult and we are trying to get start from lowest side of pyramid. We will be constant recruitment of consumer partners.

On criteria of appointing partners, Trend Micro is ready to pick up partners from multiple spaces in which hardware and security are some to name.The company keeps on rolling awareness and events for partners time to time. But this time Trend Micro is partnering with CRY to organise Internet safety education camp for children.

Now Trend Micro expanded its foot prints in all the verticals like consumer, SOHO, SMB, and enterprise. For 2010,
