Alcatel-Lucent announced the appointment of Rajeev Singh-Molares as President of the Asia-Pacific region, replacing Sean Dolan, effective February 1, 2010.

Rajeev Singh-Molares is currently the Chief Strategy Officer for Alcatel-Lucent, responsible for identifying new development opportunities, new areas of consumer interest, and new markets for industry expansion. In this role he has been the leader in defining, communicating, and overseeing the execution of the companys new strategy - driven by its Application Enablement vision.

He will continue to be a member of the companys management committee and will be based in Shanghai.

Rajeev is the perfect person to take our already strong relationships with service providers, enterprises, and vertical markets throughout Asia Pacific to the next level leveraging his strategic transformation expertise in working with customers to help them evolve their businesses and networks, said Ben Verwaayen, CEO of Alcatel-Lucent. I would like to thank Sean for the strong role he has played in overseeing our Asia Pacific activities and growing our revenues in the region.

Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent Rajeev was a senior partner and firm director for the Monitor Group, a global professional services firm founded by Harvard professor, Michael Porter. During his 18 years at Monitor Group, he helped world and business leaders address complex strategic issues, including competitiveness, organizational structure, marketing, industry evolution and pressing social concerns. He worked with over 100 companies from start-ups with uncertain business models to established companies with tens of billions of dollars in revenues looking to redefine their models. Specific to this new role, Rajeev worked extensively with Asia-based clients and has a deep understanding of the region, their unique growth challenges, and the cultural context within which they operate.

He is a magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown Universitys Walsh School of Foreign Service in Washington, DC, and completed a masters degree in international affairs at Yale University where he was a teaching assistant. He is a director of a variety of foundation and nonprofit boards.  Rajeev is also a member of the World Economic Forums Council on the Future of Mobile Communications where he works with industry colleagues to address global issues, including the challenges of digital inclusion in emerging economies, expanding broadband coverage, and ensuring viable business models.
