Aricent Unveils OSS / BSS Innovation Lab for Service Providers

Posted on December, Wednesday 09, 2009 By ITVN Network

New Innovation, Development and Test Environment Showcases Complete 4G Network Operations Based on Service Oriented Architecture and Leading COTS Products...

Aricent announced a new facility and associated services aimed at helping service providers architect and implement the latest in multi-vendor Operational Support Systems (OSS) and Business Support Systems (BSS) technology. Based upon a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach, the lab highlights how service providers can evolve their existing OSS / BSS solutions as well as rapidly implement new OSS / BSS components in support of advanced services and 4G. Aricents new Innovation Lab is designed to help operators assess, develop and deploy new business models and improve the overall customer experience.

One example of the frameworks and services available through Aricents Innovation Lab is a WiMAX reference architecture. Aricents pre-packaged OSS / BSS solution for WiMAX can enable operators to accelerate time-to-revenue and quickly monetize new 4G services in emerging markets. This solution addresses the fundamental need among WiMAX operators to minimize capital expendit

ures, while investing in a solution that can scale and adapt to the evolution of new product offerings and business models.

Aricents extensive expertise in end-to-end OSS / BSS system integration is evidenced by the fully integrated order management process for WiMAX and Triple Play solutions, said Chun-Ling Woon, vice president of marketing and business development at ConceptWave. The pre-packaged OSS / BSS solution fully utilizes the ConceptWave Order Management product set and can be conveniently demonstrated to interested operators in the Aricent Innovation Lab.
Advances in mobile devices and connected consumer electronics, new wireless broadband technologies including Femtocells, WiMAX and LTE and a wave of Web 2.0 and cloud-based services are driving significant changes in carriers OSS / BSS implementations.
The Aricent Innovation lab is initially equipped with COTS products from leading partners including ConceptWave, Hewlett Packard, Oracle and Telcordia.
