The new platform lays the foundation for Religare’s dynamic infrastructure, and the storage solution to enhance utilisation by 30 percent...
A better TCO and a higher ROI is a key demand for all client organisations today. Thats the business side of it. Technologically the clients are looking beyond simple server virtualisation to create a virtualised environment using existing heterogeneous IT infrastructure. Religare Enterprises Limited, a diversified financial services group with a pan-India presence, is looking to build a Dynamic IT Infrastructure. It needs a solution that will enable it a better performance monitoring, and provides a platform to virtualise its existing heterogenous IT environment.
A Dynamic Infrastructure is a necessity in todays competitive scenario and we believe that we have started our journey towards this with this Investment. Cost reduction in recessionary times is not just about containing operational cost and complexity, but achieving breakthrough productivity gains through virtualization, optimization, energy stewardship, and flexible sourcing. Â We wanted to partner with the
best technology advisor in the industry in order to leverage their expertise to lay the way for our future growth, while streamlining our operational costs, said Saurabh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President (IT), Religare Enterprises. Religare decided to consolidate its current IT infrastructure system to build a Nearline/Disaster Recovery setup. It chose to consolidate and virtualize its heterogeneous storage set-up along with defining a future roadmap to build a dynamic IT infrastructure. Religare also needed a smooth integration of existing storage systems to a new SAN wide virtualized infrastructure with minimum downtime and flexibility.
IBM came up with the solution to meet the need. Big blue offered storage virtualisation solution to optimise the current setup. IBM installed SAN Volume Controller 5.1 and DS5000 disk solution into Religares existing set up. The solution will enhance their storage utilization by as much as 30%. In challenging times like these, building a
more dynamic infrastructure via virtualization and consolidation is not just about operational efficiency, but a financial and competitive necessity. Religare recognized and realized that they needed to build a robust infrastructure to address their current and future expansion plans attaining higher TCO&ROI. Religares choice of IBM as its preferred IT infrastructure partner re-affirms our undisputed leadership in the storage in India and our commitment to help clients do more with Less. said Sandeep K Dutta, VP Storage, Systems and Technology Group, IBM India/ South Asia.
IBMs Storage Virtualization Solution will help virtualize the disk pool from multiple storage subsystems into a reservoir of capacity that can be managed more efficiently, improving storage utilization and administration and enhancing performance to meet future growth. The solution will also ensure seamless data migration between subsystems while automating the Storage usage by "On Demand" prov
isioning and increasing the business flexibility by providing higher availability and scalability with improved performance. Moreover, the proposed solution will further compliment the BCP (Business Continuity Plan) more efficiently and effectively giving higher confidence to Religare.
