SafeNet, a global leader in information security, announced that Future Point (P) Limited, a world leading developer of astrological software solutions has selected SafeNet Hardware Keys to check piracy and prevent unauthorized use and distribution of their flagship 'Leo' range of products.

Owing to the growing interest in computer-based horoscopes and predictions, the demand for astrological software products has increased significantly in the recent past. Future Point faced severe problems in terms of protecting its products. Since its software products were popular, they were often hacked into and pirated resulting into potential revenue loss for the Company. Therefore, it required an overall licensing protection preferably with a hardware key. Having evaluated various security solutions to overcome the challenges, Future Point closed in on SafeNet Hardware Keys.

According to CEO, Future Point, Abha Bansal "Every software products company should receive a fair compensation for the kind of research and development that goes into making a commercially viable product. It makes no sense for companies to loose revenue and customers to piracy especially when effective security mechanisms are available."

Future Point selected SafeNet USB and parallel port hardware keys amidst offerings from various vendors because they offered the best protection possible. However, besides strong security, there were other important aspects that Future Point, as a leading software products vendor in the domain, needed to consider as well. The hardware keys had to be easily programmable, easy in implementation and distribution to customers. SafeNet fared well on all of these parameters.

SafeNet Hardware Keys are physical tokens that have been integrated into Future Point's Leo range using a software toolkit. These keys are distributed to every end user along with the product. The protected software checks for the presence of the key during runtime to ensure that the software usage is authorized and the parameters of the license agreement are enforced. In addition, these keys include internal authentication, which effectively prevents their cloning.

Future Point now offers its customers a very flexible and user-friendly licensing for it is possible for them to generate licenses based on numerous criteria such as time, fixed number of executions and even expiry dates. The sales force is able to offer the prospective customers time-based license models such as trial, demo or subscription sans routine hassles of license management.

According to Vice President - Global Outsourcing, SafeNet, Deepak Prasad, "Various license configurations including evaluation, feature-based, pay-per-use, standalone, network and more can be created and then customized at fulfillment circumventing the multiplicity in development effort or alteration in the source code. This results in huge savings."

What's more, SafeNet's technology allows Future Point to send updates to keys in a secure and controlled manner, including the ones sold and implemented. This is particularly helpful when the license expires, for it can be remotely updated and even upgraded. Offering complete protection throughout the software lifecycle, SafeNet has enabled Future Point to enhance revenue, automate fulfillment and ongoing management of licenses, and monitor and mitigate piracy threats.
