To drive the same, the company is targeting retail chains to garner more market share. Speaking to itVARnews, Assistant Director, Imaging Consumer Products, Canon India, Parveen Sahni said, “We are already doing really well in the Digital Imaging Market and we want to retain that position. We are getting more aggressive with retail outlets as people can come and experience technology and usage under one roof. In these outlets we will not only be focusing on products but also its features and more hands-on experience for the customer.Canon currently has nine retail chains all over the country and has tied-up with Reliance, Hypercity and Wills Worth. It is planning to add another four retail outlets by end of this year. Apart from retail chains, it will also be focusing on its IT Channel partners to push its imaging and communication products further in the market. “IT Channel has a very big opportunity, which we have still not nurtured. This year we will be focusing on them as well to drive more business through them, added Sahni. The vendor has already restructured its sales and marketing teams to increase its sales force. It is targeting verticals such as IT Channel, corporates, photographers, consumer electronics, retails and end users. As a part of Canon's efforts to become a more customer focused and responsive company, the company also recently announced the launch of its new Canon Edge Program, an attractive scheme for its professional customers to buy Canon Digital SLR Cameras from authorized Canon dealers. This new offer is targeted at photographers who are looking at upgrading their cameras, as well as professional photographers. As an extension of this program, Canon will also be looking at setting up Professional Centres in Chennai and Kolkata.
